HUMANE WORLD FOR ANIMALS IS LOOKING FOR AN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR ITS OFFICE IN KOREA .

The Executive Director will be responsible for Humane World for Animals Korea operations and budget; management of staff, consultants, interns, and volunteers; support and direction of Humane World for Animals Korea programs; promotion of Humane World for Animals Korea and its programs to media and the public; representation of Korea to all levels of h Korea institutions and government, and the Korean animal protection community.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Direction of overall Humane World South Korea operations and budget:

1. Assessment of short and long term financial and capital needs and provision of recommendations to address them.

2. Drafting and monitoring of annual operating budget.

3. Submission of various monthly, quarterly, and end of year reports.

4. Implementation of board policies and directives.

Management of staff, consultants, interns, and volunteers:

5. Determination of staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery.

6. Oversee the implementation of human resources policies and procedures, including job descriptions for all staff.

7. Orientation of all staff to the organization and provision of appropriate training.

8. Assignment of areas of responsibility, delegation of duties, and allocation of tasks.

9. Clarification of organizational policies to staff.

10. Direction of staff and volunteers to access professional development/training to upgrade their skills.

11. Routine evaluation of staff performance and related recommendations of salary increases/promotion or termination/disciplinary action.

12. Creation of job descriptions and hiring of staff, as required.

Support and direction of Humane World for Animals Korea programs:

13. Development of vision for Humane World South Korea in conjunction with HSI executive and HSI/South Korea employees.

14. Development of Humane World Korea annual program activity, in conjunction with HQ Program teams and vision and the context of the Korean animal protection movement.

15. Development of strategies, budgets, media plans, government relations components, program activities for each Korean campaign, in conjunction with Korea campaigns team and HQ program and Korea teams.

16. Development of key messages for Korean campaigns and programs, integrating Korean context, in conjunction with HQ program teams.t.

17. Development/maintenance of coalitions with animal protection groups and other stakeholders in Korea.

Promotion of Humane World for Animals Korea and its programs to media and the public:

18. Development/implementation of public relations strategies and procedures, in keeping with Humane World for Animals Korea and HQ vision.

19. Serve as chief spokesperson for Humane World Korea, effectively representing the organization to Korean media and the public.

20. Guide Humane World for Animals Korea staff, contractors and volunteers in reflecting the Humane World for Animals Korea mandate and vision to media and the public.

Representation of Humane World for Animals Korea to all levels of Korean institutions and government and the South Korea animal protection community

21. Serve as chief representative for Humane World for Animals Korea.

22. Establish and attend meetings with institutions and government officials to promote Humane World Korea policies and campaigns.

23. Maintain regular contact with Korean animal protection groups and initiate collaborative national strategy planning sessions.

Other duties as assigned.

Desired minimum qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education and experience

· College degree or comparable work experience.

· At least seven years’ experience in animal protection work, preferably with international experience.

· At least five years’ experience with international groups or living abroad.

· At least five years’ experience in staff and office management.

· Proven track record of team leadership, collaborative teamwork, campaign management and campaign advancement.

· Proven track record of budget and financial systems management.

· Broad base of contacts within animal protection, media and institutions/government.

Necessary knowledge, skills and abilities

1. Superior written and communications in English and Korean.

2. Strong interpersonal skills, preferably with experience working with international groups.

3. Strong knowledge of the animal protection movement.

4. Superior analytical and strategic planning skills.

5. Strong organizational skills, including ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines.

6. Ability to travel regularly, both domestically and internationally.

7. Strong computer skills.

8. Strong accounting skills.

9. Ability to multitask and work under pressure.

10. Superior understanding of Korean institutions, government and legislative procedures as well as understanding of US-based organizations.
