The George Mason University Korea (Mason Korea) is seeking a positive and energetic person who is well organized and has a strong desire to work in the filed of University Life. The Coordinator of University Life performs tasks and provides high-level planning, organizing, and delivery of co-curricular and extra-curricular programs for students. The Coordinator of University Life works closely with the Senior Coordinator of Student Involvement to collaborate on student involvement and leadership activities. The position will be working within the team of University Life professional and student staff and directly report to the Associate Dean of University Life. The pay scale of the position is from 37,000,000 KRW to 42,000,000 KRW per year based on previous working experiences. This position will start from August 01 2024 to September 30 2025.


Program Planning and Support of Student Activities

  • Oversee Patriot Activities (PAC) Council programming calendar.
  • Assist in fiscal oversight of PAC budget.
  • Assist with university events including new student programs, Family Orientation, Mason Day, International Week, etc.

Student Employee Supervision

  • Assist with hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating Patriot Activities Council members.
  • Manage and oversee student employees in the planning process and coordination of campus events, activities, and programs.
  • Interpret university policies for students, student organizations, and campus partners related to co-curricular involvement at the university.

Student Leadership Development

  • Develop and implement student leadership workshops including leadership skills, programming skills, budgeting, setting goals and learning outcomes, risk management, recognition activities, and program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs to plan the Celebration of Achievement to recognize student leaders.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the University Life social media accounts.
  • Oversee University Life email account.
  • Support with new student ID card management.
  • Update the MK events webpage.
  • Work on various campus committees and other special assignments as assigned by the administration or the supervisor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 1 years of relevant experience in student activities in a university setting

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies
  • Proficient with operating a computer and various supporting software packages (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Calendar, Zoom)
  • Skill in program coordination, including communication organization, facilitation, and independent decision-making
  • High level of writing, speaking, and oral English communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects independently and work in an environment with regular interruptions
  • Ability to maintain databases and update department website
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Require flexible hours, including occasional evening and weekend hours, with prior notice.
  • Work may require some physical exertion (I.e., standing, lifting, moving, etc.).
  • Some work may be completed outside.
